Andrew McGongile, MBBS
Introduction to Bone Physiology, Osteoporosis, and Yoga
Andrew McGonigle has been studying anatomy for over twenty years, originally training to become a doctor and then moving away from Western medicine to become a yoga teacher, massage therapist and anatomy teacher. He combines his skills and experience to teach anatomy and physiology to yogis. His book Supporting Yoga Students with Common Injuries and Conditions: A Handbook for Yoga Teachers and Trainees was published in March 2021 and his most recent book The Physiology of Yoga was published in June 2022.

Kristin Anderson, PhD
Yoga for Thyroid Health: Myth or Fact
Dr. Anderson is a neuroscientist and science communicator. Her research expertise lies in understanding the root causes of affective disorders like depression and anxiety with a particular focus on stress susceptibility and resiliency. She coordinates a science outreach programme in Ireland that aims to widen participation in under-served and disadvantaged communities by empowering young people.

Dr. Herpreet Thind
Yoga and Diabetes and Metabolism
Dr. Herpreet Thind is an Associate Professor of Public Health at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a behavioral scientist whose research focuses on yoga and physical activity interventions for chronic disease prevention and management. With a background in medicine and a PhD in Health Promotion, she leads NIH-funded clinical trials exploring yoga as a complementary therapy for individuals with type 2 diabetes.

Loren Fishman, PhD
Yoga for Osteoporosis: The Endocrinology of Bone-Muscle Cross Talk
Loren Fishman, MD, B.Phil.,(oxon.) After getting an advanced degree in Foundations of Mathematics at Oxford Dr. Fishman spent 3 years in India, one with BKS Iyengar. After graduating medical school in Chicago he did psychiatry in a Harvard-Tufts program, then transferred and became Chief Resident in PMR at Albert Einstein COM, and has been on the staff at Columbia University Medical School for many years. He has written over 100 papers and 14 books often applying yoga to medical problems, about which he has completed many studies. He has a private practice and lives in Manhattan with his wife and has two granddaughters.

Elissa Epel, PhD
Mindfulness and mindful eating for Pregnant Women: A Natural Approach to Managing Glucose and Stress
Elissa Epel is a leading expert on stress, well-being, and healthy aging. A Professor and Vice Chair at UCSF’s Department of Psychiatry, she researches how practices like meditation and breathwork support mind-body health. She co-authored the NYT bestseller The Telomere Effect with Nobel Laureate Elizabeth Blackburn, and her latest book The Stress Prescription is being translated into 15 languages. Elissa also leads science-based meditation retreats on aging and deep rest.

Tracy Shors, PhD
MAP Train Your Brain & Stay Fit for Life
Dr. Tracey Shors is Distinguished Professor in Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience in the Department of Psychology and a member of the Center for Collaborative Neuroscience at Rutgers University. Dr. Shors has 150 scientific publications in journals including Nature, Science, PNAS and Nature Neuroscience. Her research findings have been featured in Scientific American, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and on NPR and CNN. Her research efforts were recently recognized with W. Horsley Gantt Medal from the Pavlovian Society for the "noble pursuit of truth." Macmillan and Flatiron Press published her popular book about stress and trauma: Everyday Trauma. She is also the creator of the evidence-based brain fitness program MAP TRAIN MY BRAIN (maptrainmybrain.com), which combines meditation and aerobic exercise to enhance mental health.
